Both a mad scientist and an incurable romantic, Daniel Catarino is not an easy character to define musically. His first releases date back to 2006, and they focused mainly on long instrumental pieces, drones, space rock and psychedelic rock.
Hidden behind aliases such as Landfill, Long Desert Cowboy and Oceansea, Catarino was unstoppable during the latter years of the last decade, creating more and more paths for his creativity, and eventually forming the bands Uaninauei and Bicho do Mato.
A major milestone occurs in 2013 with the release of "Songs From The Attic Window", his first LP composed entirely of songs in English, released under the alias Oceansea which he dropped after a rumour about his death on Twitter. Nominated as Album Of The Month across several independent media resources, the single "Poetry for the Moon" enters the charts in German and Polish radios, reaching number 1 after a couple of weeks.
After releasing another EP in Portuguese, Daniel Catarino gave up using aliases due to a rumor about his death on Twitter and is now releasing his brand new and best album so far. "Songs From The Shed" is a charismatic singer-songwriter record, pinching the buns of Alternative Country/Rock, Folk and Britpop, in a journey from his native Alentejo to Nashville with a stop in London and Germany, where he will play his first international tour and release the album on October 2015.

Perante o talento expresso numa espécie de esquizofrenia musical saudável, os seguidores do seu trabalho chamam-lhe o Mike Patton português, o Manel Cruz do Sul, mas Daniel Catarino apresenta já um currículo personalizado que, independentemente do projecto ou do estilo musical em que esteja a trabalhar, impressiona - tanto na música como na escrita.
Originário da pequena vila alentejana de Cabeção, inicia em 2006 o seu percurso discográfico pelo mundo das netlabels, onde até 2013 lança discos sob os pseudónimos Long Desert Cowboy, Landfill e Oceansea (estes dois últimos extintos e integrados no seu trabalho em nome próprio após um rumor no Twitter sobre a sua morte).
Pelo caminho é abraçado e abraça outros companheiros de estrada com que forma as bandas Uaninauei e Bicho do Mato, não esquecendo projectos esporádicos como Cajado, O Rijo, Seven Thousand, Alentexas e Ao Lado, e a sua marca em letras para artistas como Uxu Kalhus ou Awaiting The Vultures.
Daniel Catarino apresenta agora o seu novo disco, "Songs From The Shed". Cantado exclusivamente em inglês, o álbum assenta numa forte vertente de cantautor, singer-songwriter se preferirem, em que o folk rock, o country alternativo e o britpop dão as mãos num passeio agradável do Alentejo a Nashville, com escala em Londres e na Alemanha, onde o artista fará a sua primeira tour internacional já em Outubro, coincidindo com o lançamento do disco.
